Description:

large bright green insect, avoided light, shaped like a leaf with leaf vein pattern. Two smallish eyes, large folded up mandibles. Six long, thin, jointed legs, Looked like a grasshopper but with narrower hind legs and did not jump. Seen at night, suburban backyard with many trees and a lake nearby.
