Praying Mantis

Mantidae

Description:

I saw this familiar creature doing an queer act. It is blowing some kind of balloon from its tail. Perhaps it is laying eggs in a protected enclosure build by its own secretions.

Habitat:

Greenary and trees. Found in majority parts of India.

Notes:

Can somebody suggest me its scientific name. In India in Maharashtra we call it Naktoda - The Nose Breaker. For More details check out http://a-z-animals.com/animals/grasshopp...

This is actually quite a big praying mantis with its cocoon. Looks as it might be the Giant Indian Praying Mantis, Hierodula grandis. But this has to be confirmed by some Indian folks!
