Northern Elephant Seals

Description:

Bulls can weigh up to 5,000 pounds, females up to 1,800 pounds. The rookery provides a serene environment for birthing, molting and breeding.

Habitat:

Pacific Ocean

Notes:

The elephant seals do not eat during this season. Males come to breed and often have fights for the rights to breed in the harems. Most females spend their entire adult lives either pregnant or nursing.
