Red - tailed Hawk

Buteo jamaicensis

Description:

Relatively large hawk with a brown head, back and wings. Underside is off white to light tan marked with brown on the breast and belly. The most distinctive field mark of this bird is it’s rust to brown tail.

Habitat:

Mainly open space in rural areas, occasionally seen on the edge of urban areas and parks.
