Oecophorid Moth

Compsotropha strophiella

Description:

A small moth with a wing span of 20 mm. White wings were held flat on either side of body; the white broken by dark sooty bands - a narrow band in the middle and a broad smudged band in the submarginal area. The trailing wing margins had a thin broken dark line.
Labial palps were recurved.

Habitat:

Spotted on a eucalyptus tree ( West Australian Gum)

Notes:

Caterpillars feed on leaves of various eucalyptus species.
Family: Oecophoridae
Subfamily: Oecophorinae
