Manduca sexta
Green "worm" 3inch long, found on tomatoes plants
Thanks! :) The name is quite specific for a species that is pretty easygoing, food wise!
No waste! Bouncing ideas is a good way to learn :) This one gave me a tough time my first spotting of it because so many websites including wikipedia didn't clearly differentiate between the two species. And they both like tomatoes!
They are similar and many websites speak of them synonymously but the tobacco has diagonal lines...

The butterfly and moth book I have also shows the tomato hornworm with v's and tobacco with diagonals.
Wikipedia must have its facts wrong. Just another lesson: NEVER trust wikipedia! I am sorry for wasting your time, Gerardo.
Here is another example of Manduca sexta:

The tobacco hornworm has diagonal lines on its side and the tomato hornworm has v-shaped lines on its side.
