Description:

The red-shouldered hawk is one of Florida's most distinctively marked common hawks, with barred reddish-peachy underparts and a strongly banded tail. In flight, translucent crescents near the wingtips help to identify the species at a distance. They hunt prey ranging from mice to frogs and snakes.

Red-shouldered hawk spotted at Moss Bluff Lock and Spillway, Ocklawaha, Florida

What a nice thing to say. I think this hawk is a permanent resident at this dam because I've been there a couple of times and it is always on a post, a sign or in a tree. there are two of them. It is liking its territory. Thanks so much for nice comment ZooNerd!
