Chalcopterus Beetle

Amarygmus sp.

Description:

An attractive black beetle about 13 mm long. The pronotum did not have a metallic sheen but the elytra relected purples and blues. Elytra had striae - about 9 on each elytron. Black legs had slightly thickened femurs and antennae about 11 segments.

Habitat:

Spotted on a feathery ? native in a reserve with Eucalyptus and Acacia trees.

Notes:

There are supposed to be 54 named species of Amarygmus beetles in Australia. The adults live under bark but this one was a little lost !
