Giant Jumping Spider

Hyllus sp.

Description:

This is a Giant Jumping Spider and it is one that I have come across before - https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/69....... When I took the above photos, I did not have my little pocket ruler with me. So, I was unable to measure the spider, or even the leaf it was sitting on, but the identical spider in the previous spotting was sitting beside a Telemonia masinloc (a Jumping spider of normal proportions) and that alleviates the problem of size by providing a direct comparison with a well known species. I believe that the spider shown here, is indeed a Giant Jumping Spider which belongs to the Genus Hyllus and I think that it is Hyllus maskaranus Barrion & Litsinger, 1995. Please see Notes below.

Habitat:

Spotted on foliage in a rice field which has been allowed to rest and grow wild this year.

Notes:

According to Wikipedia, there are two species of Giant Jumping Spiders documented in the Philippines. They are Hyllus golosus (Simon, 1877) and Hyllus maskaranus Barrion & Litsinger, 1995. In Wiki's list, there are 67 Hyllus spp., but only 7 of them have any pictures available. There are absolutely no pictures of my main suspect, Hyllus maskaranus.
