A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Glareola pratincola
These birds could be mistaken for Terns or Swallows in flight. They are not shy and can be approached quite closely with care. Although they hunt like Swallows they spend a lot of time on the ground and even make their nests on the ground, not only on rock-strewn ground with Terns and Plovers but also in ploughed and other fields.
