Description:

This wasp is in the Family Sphecidae (Thread-waisted Wasps) and Subfamily Ammophilinae. This one has black wings with a reddish-orange area and black area on the abdomen.

Habitat:

This one was on one of the goldenrod species near a pond at the Silver Bluff Audubon Center near Kathwood (Aiken County), SC.
