Aglais urticae

Description:

Medium size butterfly, 4-5 cm wingspan, females half a centimeter bigger than the male. The wing anverse is orange colour with black spots while the reverse in pale yellow and black with brown reflections. Both sexes are very similar in design and colour.

Habitat:

Spotted close to running water (fountain) in a pine tree forest, at 1700 meters high. Sierra de Guadarrama
