Batrachostomus moniliger
These rare and endangered nocturnal birds are masters of camouflage.
Lower elevations of the south Western Ghats of India and contiguous areas in Sri Lanka. This pair seen at the Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary at Thattekad near Kothamangalam, Kerala.
You cannot enter the forest without engaging the services of a local tribal guide at Thattekad. These guides know the roosting sites of the nocturnal Ceylon Frogmouths, and if you are lucky, you will certainly see them there.
