Click Beetle

Description:

4mm in length. Pronotum is brown with a broad black strip either side of the midline. Elytra irregularly mottled black and brown.

Habitat:

Urban garden.

Notes:

Very fast moving. In order to get this shot I had to focus on the wood in front of the beetle and snap the picture as soon as it came into frame. Upon picking it up, it "clicked" twice, the first time reaching a height of about 40mm and the second time about 25mm.
