Long-legged Fly

Dolichopodidae sp

Description:

This tiny, fast-flying, long-legged fly has an iridescent metallic green thorax and a silvery gray abdomen tinged with the same metallic green. The wings have smoky gray banding. Eyes are red.

Habitat:

Urban yard at edge of forest.

Notes:

I often find these flies in sunlight or dappled shade running around on broad leaves, such as hostas but I find them on other leaves as well.
