Tiny White Plume Moth

Megalorhipida leucodactyla

Description:

I found this tiny moth on the wall in my backyard, and it rest in a rigid T shape. It have a wings that split into two parts, 4 legs that forming a neat X beneath, and the last two legs were hidden. It length is about 10 mm, and the wingspan is about 16 mm. It is most likely Megalorhipida leucodactyla (seemingly the only one with dark wings & a white body). At the first time, i thought this moth is a mosquito.

Habitat:

- Around the house and garden.

Notes:

- Plume moth is a moth of family Pterophoridae. It is attracted to the light (possibly a nocturnal insect). Note:- name change leucodactylus (male) to leucodactyla (female) to conform to gender of the genus. Thanks to Psyche (Dr. Seow) for the ID.
