Bordered Patch Butterfly

Description:

This is one of several new Bordered Patch butterflies that have appeared late in the day in the garden. All were found sunning on a leaf and nectaring on the Gregg's Mistflower.

Habitat:

Wildlife habitat with many native plants in the sunflower family, one of the host plants for this species.

Notes:

Bordered Patch caterpillars are gregarious, they feed in groups and do not separate till the final instar stage.
