Columbian Black-tailed deer

Odocoileus hemionus columbianus

Description:

Blacktail doe with twin fawns

Habitat:

Rural residential area near mixed conifer & decidious forest

Notes:

I was lucky enough to be able to watch these three for more than an hour as they played & fed through my yard. One of the fawns came up to the house, checked out my car, peeked into the garage, & ate a few flowers before rejoining the family. Thanks for the link, Janet. It was very interesting! These three were back in my yard today, for a couple of hours & I got some good video of the fawns running & jumping as they played. Soon as I can figure out how, I'll post them!

The Mule, Blacktail and White tail is so much alike that sometimes it confuses experts. This explains why.
