Description:

Native perennial shrub that produces intensely purple bunches of berries in late summer into the fall. Leaves are ovate or elliptical with a serrated margin. The stems are long, slender and woody. This plant can be obtained in cultivated forms and is used ornamentally.

Habitat:

Temperate forest. Rockwood County Park, Virginia.
