Japanese Four-Lined Ratsnake

Elaphe quadrivirgata

Description:

Japanese Four-Lined Ratsnake spotted along a trail near the Karasawa River, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. This snake first crossed in front of me on the trail, then climbed the bank and into a small tree, then took up an observation perch.

Notes:

This first photo shows its final resting spot, the other five are in order showing the snake climb up into the small tree.
