Broad-Tailed Hummingbird

Selasphorus platycercus

Description:

This one was hard to capture, because the nest was obscured by foliage. Mom was feeding the youngster, who was perched on the side of the nest. It appears the youngster was pretty close to leaving the nest.

Habitat:

Seems to prefer higher elevations above the desert floor, meadows and woodlands.
