Paraplectana duodecimmaculata
Small, 5mm to 6mm length. Bright pink with black polka dots. Looks like a 6yo little girl designed it. The way it was traversing its web line, it looked very like a crab spider, gasteracantha. Happy to be corrected. I have entered it as a family name of araneidae for now.
Adjacent to a small stream. Altitude 1000m.
It would be a reasonable assumption that it is mimicking a ladybird because of the bas tasting poison that they give off when disturbed. Cutest spider I ever saw. If all spiders looked like this, there would be no more arachnophobics.

Hi Dave,
Firstly, great pic of the spider. I'm having difficulty identifying aninsect. I don't know what it is or where to start, can you help me? http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/214...

So many spottings coming up all the time Dave, it could have just got missed ... I'd love to find a spider like that here .... I'm totally smitten by the jumping spiders .. those eyes!!! I've actually spotted a pair of rare-ish butterflies here, a couple of butterfly fanatics are coming across from Samui & Koh Phangan at the weekend to see if they can get some snaps :) Fingers crossed they're still around .. p.s Keep up the good work! :)
Viv - I thought so too, but no one else did. Tough crowd here sometimes.
