Description:

Gray spider with brown hairs. There are some red/brown markings on the cephalothorax. This beauty was crossing a dirt trail in chaparral. I set my lens hood down and it crawled inside as seen in the fourth image. There is a quick video of it walking.

I didn't see any last year and was surprised to see this one in February. It's all luck! Good luck spotting one this year.

lovely movie. It looks different from the local species here. I did not see any tarantulas this year.

Hi Ashley, thank you so much! I was quite surprised to see this beauty today. I expect it in November but not February. We've been in the 80's this week so it's been affecting the wildlife. Hoping to see some snakes soon!
