Chilean flamingos

Phoenicopterus chilensis

Description:

Zoos and reserves in the area generally have chilean flamingos as they are well adapted to our climate and breed in these areas. These big birds are generally found in big groups and at times mirrors are even used to give the birds the feeling that they are an even bigger flock than what they actually are (larger groups promote breeding). In this particular case there weren´t many birds together, there were only two or, maybe, three and there were no mirrors.

Habitat:

Temprate areas in South America: Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Equator, Peru and parts of Brazil.
