Description:

A medium sized bird inhabiting swamp and marshland. It is a mostly black bird with a yellow and red beak and is seen here with young. Most notable is the birds disproportionally large feet and long toes to allow navigation over water lillies and floating vegetation. An opertunistic omnivore, it feeds on whatever is goin including insects, fish, amphibians and plants.
