A lacewing larva (Chrysopidae) with loads of tiny natural litters on its back collected from its surroundings to help it camouflage. Camouflage is important for it to hunt preys - small insects like ants. Body length - 5mm, including mandibles. Its body has tufts of hairs to hold all those objects on its back. It is armed with a long pair of mandibles to attack preys and to collect these pile of debris. Photo 2 & 4 shows the lacewing after some of its loads have been removed by me. It then recollects surrounding items (shown in the video)
Forest floor in Kampung Bangkau-Bangkau, a village in Pitas, Sabah.
My first video uploaded into the Internet and my first spotting with a video. I decided to video this insect to record the way it picks up items and placing them behind its back. Pitas also has a lot of arthropods species which I have never seen before. >>>Map accuracy : 10m diameter.
