Sea Otter (mom with baby)

Enhydra lutris

Description:

Before leaving Morro Bay we returned to the spot where we had seen the group of sea otters. We saw this time a mother with her baby. The mother is tagged in her fins so is probably being monitored by researchers. The baby is hard to see due to the morning light being just behind them but you can see it is more red brownish, more furry. He/she was at times yelling and the mother was doing a wonderful job on caressing and cleaning his/her fur while both floated next to the rest of the group.

Habitat:

Morro bay, close to Morro Rock, CA.
