Description:

Is basically a tree native to the tropical Americas. The mature fruit has a leathery skin and thin layer of pulp; and is somewhat purple in color. The fruit is used in cuisines and medicines in parts of the world.

Habitat:

Observed along the entrance road to a County nature preserve. The area behind this plant was primarily Slash Pine flatwoods.
