Starling

Sturnus vulgaris (Linneaus)

Description:

I was given these little guys by the Custodian at my daughter's elementary school. I have no clue how old they are. Sadly, one passed away but the other I have had now for a week and he is growing like a weed!

B_Roberge, to add pictures you need to click on "edit this spotting" on the right of your page and then you can add pictures and make any other changes you need to. Then you go to the bottom of the page and click on "save changes." I'm glad these little birds have gotten you interested in the natural world around you; it makes life so rich and interesting!

Great that you are trying to rescue it for release. I'm sorry you couldn't find a wildlife rehabber to help you. You could add this to the wildlife rescue & rehabilitation mission - http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/9974... - do let us know if you manage to save it long enough to be released!

Fairly new on this site and not sure that I am posting this in the right area so that you can see it, but anyways.... hi Ava, thank you so much for the article. I find it very interesting. Starlings are so common here and I really never paid notice to them, until now. I initially searched my area for a wildlife rehabilitator that would take them in and care for them, unfortunately no one could/would help me. So I basically had to rely on the internet for help. But, I have been learning so much about them and birds in general since I took on this task of rehabilitating this little guy. I am trying my best and I hope that I am successful! I tried posting a picture of him now (after being in my care for a week) but for some reason it wont show up on the spotting. I will try again later.
