Red-Shouldered Hawk
I thought this was a Cooper's Hawk but with help from people on this list, I now know it is a Red-Shouldered Hawk.
We see lots of hawks around our place and are eager to learn all about them. Thanks for the help identifying this beautiful raptor!
Nice series! Great Red-Shouldered hawk! I'd love you to add this spotting to the mission Raptors of North America: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8627...
Welcome to Project Noah--this is a very good start. Looking forward to more wildlife in your area.
I think this is a red shouldered hawk instead of a Cooper's hawk. Cooper's hawks have yellow eyes and adults have more uniformly colored back plummage. Your last photo clearly shows the 'red shoulders'.
