Ant Mimick Mantis

Description:

I spotted this Mantis in my backyard. it had black colors on its back and head. very swift and fast running. I think this is still in nymph stage since the wings are not developed yet.

Habitat:

Small plants and shrubs.

In the genus Odontomantis for sure.
My suggestion is Odontomantis micans.
It is a widely distributed species.

19 Odontomantis species are recorded in EOL.

Sumukha we all know Mantis blessed with suitable colours on their body. Its depending upon their habitat, need to check Indian picture search to get ID.

Perfect ID Ashish..:-) But there are two kinds of ant mimic mantis nymphs- one with green legs and another with complete black color body like this one- http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/105... . Are these different or same species?? In the wiki link you have provided, it is not correctly specified which is the nymph stage of that mantis between the above mentioned two kinds..:-(
