you know I didn't think of that...She seemed as though she was protecting them but perhaps she wasn't it may have found another birds nest and destroyed the eggs...that would explain why they don't look like roadrunner eggs and they're not in a tree

Its possible it wasn't a roadrunner but the mother certainly looked like one...she also didn't seem to know what she was doing the eggs were destroyed the day after this picture.
I looked up the killdeer and they look nothing like what the mother bird looked like
I agree with Ava. Roadrunner eggs are white and are typically laid in nests that are inside cholla cactuses. I second the killdeer suggestion.
I don't think these are roadrunner eggs, which i believe are white, and this nest doesn't match the description you give of the nest being on a platform of sticks. These might be killdeer eggs.
