Great Egret

Ardea alba

Description:

Two Great Egrets, which came into my front yard following a large storm that flooded the area (I live on the river). Trees, sticks and other items had also floated in close to our bulkhead wall. The egrets were fishing just in front of the wall midway between high and low tide.

Habitat:

Suburban Philadelphia, tidal river front with large areas of spatterbock, a good hiding area for small fish which the egrets like to feed upon.
