Pied Kingfisher

Ceryle rudis

Description:

Medium sized black and white kingfisher, size of a Blackbird.

Habitat:

Observed regularly on its killing spots on two ponds in urban area of Cox's Bazar.

Notes:

Was particularly surprised when cropping the lead photo and discovering the second kingfisher (lower right corner) in it. When shooting, I actually did not see it...

What an interesting bird. The bill seems even longer than most kingfishers. Thanks for sharing Zlatan.

Two Kingfishers in one shot!...Isn't it wonderful that sometimes the camera sees more than the eye does...Recently I got a similar surprise when shooting a cormorant I also got another bird that I have to ID! Your Bangladesh birds are delightful...many of these visit me at home and it is like meeting old friends. Thank you, Zlatan.
