Dragonfly

Neurothemis sp.

Description:

According to the website "The Dragonflies of Taiwan," three species of Neurothemis occur on the island. In my inexpert opinion this individual could be either N. fulvia or N. ramburii ramburii. Compare the photos of these two species: N. fulvia: http://taiwandragonfly.blogspot.ca/2013/... N. ramburii ramburii: http://taiwandragonfly.blogspot.ca/2013/... The website describes the status of N. fulvia in Taiwan as "uncertain," so I tend to think this individual is N. ramburii ramburii.

Habitat:

Drainage ditch in agricultural area near Sun Moon Lake.

Notes:

Thanks to Paul David for help with the ID.
