Description:

this moth was flying during the day, wingspan ranges from 30–50 millimetres (1.2–2.0 in)

Habitat:

meadow, shrubs. endemic to eastern North America, but has expanded its range westward

Notes:

I spotted this at Short Hills flying around some large dogwoods. Finally it landed low enough and near the trail that I could get really close.

Thanks alexdk. Carol, seems like we are finding a lot of the same stuff! Very cool that yours was the first spot. They are large and different that they fly during the day.

I found this too Dan and my spot was the first in my county in PA. I love the metallic blue. They are fairly large.

Thanks Isabella and Gordon. Isn't it great when it works out that way Gordon? It's happened to me before on Noah, most recently a few weeks ago with the six spotted tiger beetle.
