Bald Eagle

Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Description:

Distinctive white head and brown body.

Habitat:

Flood plain of the St Johns River.

Notes:

The eagle stood on the banks of the Econolahatchee River as I paddled past. I got to withing 30 feet of it before it flew off. I've also seen a mated pair of bald eagles circling the air in this area.
