Macaca radiata
Grey. Fur-less face. Long tail.
Hampi ruins. We were about to get out of the car at the parking lot in front of one of the temples when we realized what was happening outside. This monkey jumped onto the seat of a parked motorcycle and expertly fished out a bottle of water. It unscrewed the top and drank....spilled a lot...but quenched its thirst. Then it littered the area by leaving the plastic bottle on the ground...oh the horror!!! I wish I had had the presence of mind to have moved to video mode but it all happened so quickly...I just got these three shots.
The Bonnet Macaque is an endemic macaque to the Southern part of India.

Thanks Neil...this one is definitely a better driver than what I see on our roads.☺
Excellent spotting, Sukanya. That is hilarious! I'm fairly certain it would have superior riding/driving skills and etiquette than most humans.
Ha ha ha Brian38...I would not put it past the macaque...was shell shocked when I saw it take the bottle out and purposefully take the cap off....so glad you liked the shots...really regret not having a video of it.
Cool pics and spotting Sukanya! But if the macaque starts driving the motorcycle up and down the road please get a video of that! Such fascinating and intelligent creatures!
