Yellow-headed Blackbird (female)

Xanthocephalus xanthocephalus

Description:

Female would not have the deep black color or the complete yellow from chest to head. Instead the female is brown with mottled yellow on the chest and face. And the chest is mottled with white.

Habitat:

This one was found not far where I found some years ago near flooded ponds and reeds.

Notes:

This female Yellow-headed Blackbird flew in and stayed for only a minute and was gone. This maybe a female that is returning from their breeding area north and is on her way south.
