Vernonia angustifolia

Description:

The flower is lavender in color. It is also attractive to butterflies. It grows to a height of approx. 2-3 feet. Its stalks are green.

Habitat:

The specimen was observed in a County nature park near the Education Center. The surrounding area was mostly Oak trees. This flower was out from underneath the trees in primarily sunny exposure.
