Four spot orb weaver

Araneus quadratus

Description:

Small spider, about 1cm in length (or diameter). Abdomen apple-green and very round, with four larger spots and a lot of tiny white dots. The rest of body brown. (The colours of this species can vary wildly...)

Habitat:

Urban garden - seen at dusk, on ornamental plants of our hotel's garden.

Hi Zlatan. This looks like a Four spot orb weaver (Araneus quadratus). I am not sure enough to make a formal "suggestion" but it looks right.

I see by the pictures at the bottom ot the following link that there is a lot of variation in coloration, as is the case with many orb weavers.
