Tessellana tessellata
Brown female shield-backed katydid cricket with prominent ovipositor that curls up. Dark brown/black line above each eye. This cricket has striped wings.
How funny! I'm sure more will show up since this species is found from Cali to Washington.

Cindy ,out of the 320,000 spottings on Noah ,we have only to sightings of this insect.One sighting happens to be mine and the other one yours!

Thanks Cindy. It stayed for a long time ,so it did give me a good chance to observe it.It's antenna were quite long and it had a shield. Besides it was big in size for a cricket. Therefore I never looked in the direction of Cricket.
Cindy ,once again you have proved that you have great ID skills. I am practicing with Bug , Id and mushroom observer. I found a lot of bugs and devastating grasshoppers next to a stream. I have not photographed them yet,but was very surprised by the variety !! Almost looked like Brazil! Hope I am able to get there.
