Northern Cardinal

Cardinalis cardinalis

Description:

Adult male...was singing. Taken in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Although their range extends into the far eastern parts of the state along the Kansas and Nebraska borders, this was a rare find for the area.

Habitat:

Riparian along a river on the plains

Notes:

I found this bird during the Fort Morgan Christmas Bird Count...one of the highlights of a fantastic day.
