Trumpet Vine

Description:

Vigorous, Invasive viny plant. Reddish-orange trumpet shaped flowers that occur in small groupings. Leaves are ovate with toothed edges.

Habitat:

Bronx Zoo.

Notes:

I am not sure that this plant was cultivated. It appeared to be growing wild over other shrubbery. Plant is not edible but is reported to have some medicinal uses.

The flower of this plant is a favorite with Ruby-throated Hummigbirds (Archilochus colubris).
