Harbor Seal

Description:

Probably the cutest mammal I have ever seen! Tan and gray mottled body with short flippers.

Habitat:

Laying on some rocks of a jetty at the ocean at Barnegat Lighthouse SP

Notes:

Distinguished from the similar looking gray seal by having nostrils close together and coming to a "v" shape, where gray seals have the nostrils with a clear division between them. Here is a gray seal I spotted from the same location, http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/113...

Ash, you have been on a roll in the New Year! It seems like every single day you're sharing some incredible spotting. This cute and adorable harbor seal is our Spotting of the Day!
