Description:

Rich yellow butterfly with pink trim and antennae and single cell spot trimmed by dark pink. Dark band on upper forewing is visible through the backlighting on the under forewing. Other possibility might be Pink-edged, (C. interior)

Habitat:

River sand on the Similkameen R in Manning Park. North Cascade Mountain range. Conifers and cottonwoods around but also clover and lupine.

Nice spotting, Kathleen. It looks similar to the Southern Dogface butterfly here, where they thrive in the desert.
