Bot fly larva - Myiasis

Calliphoridae

Description:

Unknown species, possibly Botfly or Blowfly. The larvae were relatively large, measuring 1 inch, and were hosting on an adult Cottontail rabbit.

Notes:

This blowfly larvae had recently emerged from a dead Cottontail rabbit I found in my back yard. The rabbit was infested with three mature larvae approximately the size of an adult human thumb. Warning: The additional photos and YouTube video in this series are quite graphic!
