White-lip Globe

Mesodon thyroidus

Description:

I went outside at 10:00 a.m. in the morning. I looked down at the ground, and I saw a small snails shell, lying on top of the ground, next to some green plants. I took this snails shell inside my house with me, and then I took some photos of it. This snails shell, was three eights of an inch long, and three eights of an inch wide. Inside the opening of this shell, it was filled with dirt and sand particles. The colors of this snails shell, was different shades of a grayish color. This snails shell, had five whorls to it. On the first whorl, you could see the growth lines. The aperture lip, was a light grayish color. The top of the shell, is called the apex.

Habitat:

A land snail, is any of the numerous species of snail, that live on land. Land snail, is the common name for terrestrial gastropod mollusks, that have shells. The majority of land snails are pulmonates. That is, they have a lung and breathe air. Most land snails, have shells that are right-handed in coiling. Some snails are comfortable in the desert, while others live in ditches and cooler climates. These include the mountain areas, and even in marshes. You have to look for snails, when it is cloudy or when it is night time. Snails don't reside in just one location, all the time. They tend to make there home anywhere, since they carry it on there back.
