Abortive Entoloma

Entoloma abortivum

Description:

This mushroom was found to be parasitic of Armillaria sp. of mushrooms. When in the process of parasitizing, the Abortive Entoloma produces these oddly shaped fruiting bodies. Funky, whitish, ear-shaped mushrooms. Growing on the ground in leaf litter.

Habitat:

Temperate forest. Rockwood County Park, Virginia.

Notes:
