Small Minnow Mayfly

Baetis sp.

Description:

This mayfly was TINY! It was only about 5 mm long. This is the male imago, which can be determined by the tiny to absent hind wings and the two-part "muffin" eyes.

It was swaying its caudal filaments back and forth. I tried to get a video, but it was too dark for my camera to focus on the movement.

Habitat:

Attracted to a moth light in a rural area
